Church History:
Present Day The 1960’s was a time of tremendous growth for this area with IBM, Link, Endicott-Johnson and several other local businesses thriving. TCMC grew too. During this time what is now the front of the sanctuary; including the platform, wings, and three side rooms, was built along with the fellowship room and Sunday School rooms in the basement. Upon completion the congregation worshipped in this new section while the old sanctuary was demolished. Then the rear portion of the present sanctuary, the vestibule, and upstairs children’s classroom were added where the old sanctuary had been. The entire project when completed more than doubled the size of the old sanctuary. It was at this time that the church installed a lighted steeple as well. This steeple continues to shine as a light on the hill and a landmark for those around us.
Through the years since then improvements and changes have been made to the physical buildings as needed. These have been small but significant changes; updating the parsonage kitchen, new windows for better insulation, pew cushions and air conditioners for comfort, removal or building of walls for larger or additional Sunday School space and increasing the size of the platform to accommodate varied worship styles.
The worship has evolved as well – though never straying from biblical teaching – through the addition of praise teams, drums, guitars, and additional opportunities for the church body to participate in worship. We strive for a balance and blend of the traditional and contemporary for a multi-generational appeal. In our worship we also continue to uphold our doctrinal history which has always been strong in Bible teaching and preaching, holy living, missionary outreach, belief in divine healing, and abundant grace. Therefore, we have adopted the motto, “A church where grace is in place.”
We will continue to adapt and build as needed. We have a vision for reaching others and God has provided the land to do so. Since we love to fellowship we have a dream of adding on a fellowship hall for dinners and activities; complete with a modern kitchen and recreational facilities. We hope to utilize this for our own needs as well as for outreach activities.
As God provides we will continue to build His Church at Tracy Creek – both spiritually and physically – until His Story is completed when Jesus Christ returns.
